Shackleton Credit Management

Shackleton Credit Management is a private South African company specializing in the acquisition and management of non-performing loan portfolios, often referred to as distressed debt.

Shackleton Credit Management was established in 2002 by directors Mark Lynn and Steven Main. Jeremy Brink joined as a director in 2003.  Mark, Steven and Jeremy are attorneys with extensive experience in insolvency; debt recovery and banking practice and are the Group directors of The Shackleton Group.

Shackleton Credit Management has purchased non-performing loan portfolios to the value of R3 Billion from leading South African commercial banks and credit granting institutions. In addition, Shackleton Credit Management has been mandated by major South African banks and financial institutions to collect commercial loans totaling R850 Million. Shackleton Credit Management is widely regarded as the South African market leader in commercial debt acquisition and management. During 2007 Shackleton Credit Management was invited to partner CarVal Investors*, a global leader in opportunistic value investing, in a successful joint venture.

Shackleton Credit Management adopts best practice in relation to debt recovery methods. We remain sensitive to the need to maintain the good reputation of the institutions from which we have purchased or on whose behalf we collect debt. Our objective is to continue to develop mutually beneficial and sustainable relationships with prominent players in the banking and financial services industry. Where legal action is necessary, legal services are provided by Lynn & Main Incorporated and other selected legal service providers.
